Jelly Roll turned a dream into reality for a group of youngsters by inviting them to perform at the iconic Grand Ole Opry.

On the evening of Thursday, June 5, the Grand Ole Opry showcased an all-star lineup to officially launch CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee.

Among the performers was acclaimed country artist Jelly Roll, who delivered a dynamic set that featured several fan favorites as well as a duet of “Hard Fought Hallelujah” alongside Brandon Lake.

Yet, the most touching moment arrived when Jelly Roll welcomed students from Ruby Major Elementary School onto the stage to join him in singing his heartfelt single, “I Am Not Okay.”

Released last year as the lead track from his album Beautifully Broken, “I Am Not Okay” has resonated deeply as an anthem for mental health, topping the Country Airplay chart and earning Platinum certification from the RIAA. It also received a nomination for Best Country Song at the Grammy Awards.

Jelly Roll first discovered the children’s connection to his music when he learned they had performed “I Am Not Okay” for teens at Antioch High School, a community still healing after a tragic shooting earlier this year. From that moment, he knew he wanted to share a stage with them.

As the young singers made their entrance, Jelly Roll paused his performance to greet each child with a high five, before positioning them at his side. Together, they delivered an unforgettable rendition of his hit, their voices blending in unison.

Toward the finale, Jelly Roll stepped back, allowing the students to carry the song’s concluding lines on their own, shining brightly under the Opry’s lights.
